The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Center for Public Engagement with Science and Technology is celebrating 10 years of Communicating Science workshops this spring. The Center offered its inaugural workshop at San Jose State University in California on March 14, 2008, and has facilitated more than 185 workshops for nearly 6,000 scientists and engineers since the program’s launch.

Now in its third year, Science Forum South Africa 2017 took place in Pretoria on December 8-9, 2017, with more than 3,000 participants from Africa and across the world.
Scientific organizations partnering with the March for Science are stressing the need for scientists to connect more directly with policymakers and the public both now and in the future to build support for science and explain its value for society.

A pioneering AAAS coalition bridging science and human rights marked its first anniversary with meetings that brought together more than 100 attendees from scientific organizations to explore how science, scientists and scientific associations can serve society by addressing human rights.
