GSK Science in the Summer returned this year to fulfill its mission of showing elementary school-age children that they too can be scientists and engineers through hands-on activities at camps, libraries and classrooms – and with activity kits that they can complete from home.

The AAAS Pacific Division is inviting students in the sciences to develop and share plans for future research for a July virtual event – a pandemic-era twist on traditional symposia that look back at completed research.

The AAAS-IUSE Summer Labs is a series of virtual sessions and workshops throughout June that provide sharing and learning opportunities under the banner of “Catalyzing Inclusive, Transformative Undergraduate STEM Education.”

Writers and illustrators of science books for children use their creative skills – powerful writing and beautiful illustration – to capture young readers and illuminate their understanding of science.

"As international comparisons aim at measuring competences to meet real-life challenges, behavioral aspects related to how well these challenges can be met should be included," said study author Steffi Pohl.

The authors and illustrators of four books for children and young adults have received the 2021 prizes.
