This page is coming soon!

NABI (the National Alliance for Broader Impacts) now also runs the Advancing Research Impact in Society (ARIS) Center, dedicated to “advanc[ing] the practice of translating scientific research to the public through education, outreach, training and community engagement.” On Friday, February 1 at 11:30am EST, join members of the ARIS steering committee for a live discussion of their plans for the Center and new ARIS initiatives (including the ARIS Fellowship Program), as well as upcoming Broader Impacts Summit. All are welcome to participate!

Join us Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the AAAS Annual Meeting for the Communicating Science Seminar. This annual seminar focuses on different aspects and approaches to communicating science, always emphasizing both theory and practice -- such as connecting science and policy, strategies for sustaining public engagement in a research center, and building engagement capacity on campus and in communities. You can register for free if attending just the seminar: start registration and click on "special session or event."

Having trouble finding your voice in the fantastic field of science communication? You’re not alone. Join us Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 8:00 am during the AAAS Annual Meeting for Finding Your Voice: Storytelling Lessons for Scientists.

Join us during the AAAS Annual Meeting at the Omni Shoreham Hotel Congressional room for the Public Engagement with Science Networking Reception. Meet and chat with Public Engagement staff as well as scientists, engineers, and other professionals from around the country to learn about their work to promote meaningful dialogue between science and society.

Light refreshments will be provided.

This talk provides context and the purpose of the How We Respond effort, and focuses on next steps for reaching target audiences (i.e., media and policymakers) and having an impact.

During the 2019 AAAS Annual Meeting, join us in the lounge after the How do you #SciEngage seminar for How do you #SciEngage? Planning YOUR engagement. During this session, we will dive deeper into your public engagement strategy and offer advice on how you can develop your own public engagement plan.

How do you #SciEngage? Whether you are new to science communication or a professional communicator, the Center for Public Engagement with Science and Technology would like to help you live on our Expo Stage with our seminar How do you #SciEngage? You will have the opportunity to work with AAAS Center for Public Engagement staff to brainstorm and plan effective public engagement strategies. Then, join us for coaching and additional exercises in the lounge.
