Members of AAAS elected Willie May, Ph.D., to serve as the association’s president-elect. Members also elected Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Ph.D., and Vassiliki Betty Smocovitis, Ph.D., to the AAAS Board of Directors.

A scientific enterprise centered on humanity must be open to all, must benefit all and must build trust among scientists and their communities, AAAS President Gilda Barabino told attendees of the 2023 AAAS Annual Meeting, which convened March 2-5 in Washington, D.C., under the banner “Science for Humanity.”

The awards honor individuals and teams for a range of achievements, from advancing science diplomacy and engaging the public in order to boost scientific understanding to mentoring the next generation of scientists and engineers.

 

The Empowering Career Pathways in STEMM MWG will address major issues that have presented barriers to individuals entering STEMM careers and challenges to retaining talent.

The Multidisciplinary Working Groups were created to address high-priority issues in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine.
