Since White House actions seeking to curtail immigration began to target foreign nationals within the research community, AAAS has been at the forefront of efforts to uphold the importance of maintaining an international scientific enterprise.

AAAS has partnered with pilot initiatives in Missouri and Colorado to integrate scientists with local and state policy-makers.

To get fellows up to speed on communication and negotiation skills and other critical competencies, the AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowships (STPF) program provides a yearlong series of workshops and events for professional development (PD) that goes hand in hand with the experiential learning that happens on the ground in fellowship assignments.

This past fall, the U.S. Census Bureau became the newest agency to host a AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow (STPF) when it took on a data science researcher.
