After celebrating ten years of Communicating Science workshops this spring, the AAAS Center for Public Engagement with Science & Technology recently hit another milestone: its 200th workshop. These workshops have provided more than 6,400 scientists and engineers around the United States – and sometimes beyond (AAAS workshop facilitators have traveled as far as Kuwait and Chile) – the opportunity to learn core communication skills and to think strategically about their goals for engaging in two-way conversations about science with non-technical audiences.
Lassina Zerbo, in using his scientific expertise and leadership ability to tackle difficult challenges and promote world peace, has been chosen by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) to receive its 2018 Award for Science Diplomacy.
With rates of sea-level rise along parts of the nation’s Eastern seaboard increasing three to four times faster than the global average, experts are working to mitigate the effects by identifying threats, organizing collaboration among governments and organizations, as well as examining better communication techniques.
