AAAS Scientific Responsibility, Human Rights, and Law Program
University of Denver, Josef Korbel School of International Studies
APSA Academic Programs, Professional Development and Congressional Fellowship Program
Human rights connect to political science in diverse ways, both as an area of study within the discipline and a body of norms that informs and affects an array of activities across political science. This webinar will explore these intersections through an introduction to key human rights instruments and a discussion of ways to engage human rights issues in teaching, research, and service in subfields throughout the discipline. The webinar also will address the human rights standards that apply to scholarly activities and discuss protecting the rights of political scientists and the right to benefit from scientific progress. The webinar leaders are Oliver Kaplan, Assistant Professor, Josef Korbel School of International Studies, University of Denver, and Jessica Wyndham, Interim Director, AAAS Scientific Responsibility, Human Rights and Law Program.
Sponsored by the American Political Science Association and the American Association for the Advancement of Science’s Science and Human Rights Coalition.
