Human Symbiotic Robot & AI Technologies for Social Innovation
The 2017 Annual Hitachi Lectureship at AAAS will be addressed by Dr. Yasuo Osone, General Manager, Center for Technology Innovation - Mechanical Engineering, Research & Development Group, Hitachi, Ltd.
Societies are now faced with the challenges of a declining population and shrinking workforce due to the emerging demographic trends of falling birthrates and aging societies. These social issues need to be addressed in order to maintain or improve our quality of life in the years ahead. Under these circumstances, Human Symbiotic Robot and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, which support improvement in productivity, services, and life in the human environment, are proposed as a potential solution. Building upon the history of research and development of these technologies, Dr. Osone will explore the advancement in Human Symbiotic Robot and AI technologies as a necessary part of our future society.
Yasuo Osone - Dr. Yasuo Osone joined Hitachi, Ltd., in 1991 and is currently the General Manager of the Center for Technology Innovation - Mechanical Engineering at Hitachi’s Research & Development Group. Dr. Osone is a member of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Heat Transfer Society of Japan (serving as director from 2008-2009), and the Japan Society of Thermophysical Properties. He is also the Executive Secretary of the Robot Innovation Working Group at the Robot Revolution Initiative of Japan. His research interests include semiconductor packaging technology, MEMS, and advanced simulation research. Dr. Osone received his M.S. in Aeronautics from the University of Tokyo and his Ph.D. in System Design Engineering from Keio University.
