2018 AAAS Annual Meeting: Engaging the Public With Social Media

With 79 percent of Americans on Facebook and half of Twitter users looking for news, social media is a powerful way for scientists to engage the public. This introductory workshop for scientists and engineers on Engaging the Public With Social Media to be held on Sat., Feb. 17, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the 2018 AAAS Annual Meeting in Austin, TX, covers the latest research on social media use, why and how scientists should engage on social media, using Twitter, and basic best practices.

The workshop is based on the AAAS Center for Public Engagement with Science and Technology’s Communicating Science Workshops which have trained more than 5,000 people at universities, meetings, and government agencies worldwide since 2008.
