This AAAS/Minnesota Academy of Science networking event is for Minneapolis-Saint Paul-based AAAS/MNAS members and science enthusiasts wanting to make personal and professional connections in their local community both inside and outside their own disciplines.
To kick of the evening, we will have a guest speaker, an author recently published in Science.
Our guest speaker is Philip Pardey, an economist at the University of Minnesota. His research deals with productivity measurement and assessment, the finance and conduct of R&D globally, methods for assessing the economic impacts of research, and the economic and policy (especially intellectual property) aspects of genetic resources and the biosciences. He co-directs the Gates Foundation project, HarvestChoice, designed to inform and guide investments intended to stimulate productivity growth in African agriculture. Pardey will discuss his co-authored report Right-Sizing Stem-Rust Research, featured in the April 12, 2013 issue of Science.
Following the lecture, we will be holding a cocktail reception (cash bar, with complimentary coffee and dessert), giving you the opportunity to network with the speaker and other attendees.
Join us for a night of stimulating science and great conversation.
Space is limited, so please RSVP for AAAS Local: Minneapolis today!
