August AAAS Colloquium: Science Diplomacy in Arab Countries

1200 New York Avenue NW , Washington,

In recent years, the twenty-two Arab countries in the Middle East and Africa have begun to explore the role of science diplomacy. Science and policy leaders recognize the potential of science diplomacy to inform policymaking in Arab countries; encourage cross-border collaborations; and address shared challenges such as health, energy, food and water. They also see science diplomacy as a potential catalyst for increased cooperation among Arab countries.

International science cooperation expert Cathy Campbell will describe recent efforts to promote science diplomacy in Arab countries and outline specific challenges and opportunities that may shape its evolution.

Cathy Campbell is a Visiting Scholar in the Center for Science Diplomacy where she is researching national approaches to science diplomacy among Arab countries.

Light refreshments will follow. Please RSVP for this event here.
