Lecture and reception: Dr. G. Wayne Clough of the Smithsonian Institution

AAAS and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State invite you to a lecture by Dr. G. Wayne Clough, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, and a reception honoring the achievements of the 2nd cohort of International Fulbright Science & Technology Fellows.

Secretary Clough will discusses changes underway at the Smithsonian to make it even more of a global asset, including collaborations with the World Bank on the Global Tiger Initiative, the Haiti Cultural Recovery Project with the State Department and the President's Committee for the Arts and Humanities, the construction of a giant telescope in Chile, ecosystem research in Kenya, the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama, and joint research projects with universities across the country and around the world that promote scientific collaboration, assist technology sharing, and produce innovative research.

Following the lecture, a reception will offer an opportunity for guests to learn of the research underway by the Fulbright Science and Technology Fellows.
