#SciEngage Virtual Discussion (June): Science Societies Supporting Engagement

Join us for the next #SciEngage session on Friday, June 19 at 12PM ET. This session will provide an overview of a cross-organizational effort among science societies to support researchers who engage with communities, decision makers, and members of the public. Through this collaboration – the Society Civic Science Initiative – the group of societies is working to develop a community of practice that enables collective learning, to encourage universities to continue increasing their support of science engagement, and to help researchers define and achieve their engagement goals. Hear from representatives of this effort: Rose Hendricks (Kavli Civic Science Fellow at the American Society for Cell Biology), Keeta Jones (Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Acoustical Society of America) and Lexi Shultz (VP for Public Affairs and the American Geophysical Union). This session will provide one example of a network approach to building capacity for supporting engagement and will invite participants to discuss the ways in which their efforts might connect with, inform, or learn from the Society Civic Science Initiative.

The session will be recorded. Comments and resources can be shared on Trellis. More information about these sessions are on this Center for Public Engagement webpage.
