115 Organizations Sign Letter to U.S. Senate in Support of President Biden's Nominee for NIH Director

Non-profit organizations representing the scientific enterprise and medical communities sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Schumer and Senate Minority Leader McConnell, along with Chairman Sanders and Ranking Member Cassidy of the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), to strongly affirm their support for President Biden’s nomination of Dr. Monica Bertagnolli as the director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The letter was also shared with the White House and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. 

In the letter, 115 institutions emphasized Dr. Bertagnolli’s experience and leadership, which are necessary to guide the NIH, and urged the Senate to swiftly hold a hearing to confirm Dr. Bertagnolli’s nomination.
