Climate Change Hits Conflict Zones Harder: Syria Case Study

The impact of global warming has been linked to the severity of droughts, water scarcity, and food shortages in war-torn Syria. Each year, fellow-led affinity groups convene expert panels to discuss important issues in science and policy. A recent STPF Science Diplomacy Affinity Group symposium shed new light on climate change and war when an expert on water resources identified climate change as a factor that also contributes to political turmoil.
