Business and social entrepreneur David Shaw marked the 47th anniversary of Earth Day by giving a presentation at the Earth Optimism Summit on April 22, 2017.

The summit invited scientists, activists, civic leaders, public and private industry leaders, and citizens to share best practices and innovations to preserving biodiversity, protecting natural resources, and addressing climate change. Shaw spoke about Second Century Stewardship initiative and engaging the public with science and screened his 2016 film, Second Century Stewardship, Science Beyond the Scenery in Acadia National Park.

Shaw also participated with AAAS in the March for Science in Washington, D.C., that same day. He recorded a brief overview of the day, entitled Earth Day 2017.

Shaw, who made the initial donation to establish Second Century Stewardship initiative, has made more than 100 short films to share his experiences traveling the world and advocating for its conservation.
