In response to feedback from members, AAAS on 26 July announced enhancements designed to enrich and improve the online experience of its members. These changes are part of the expanding benefits, resources, and tools available via membership in the world’s largest multidisciplinary scientific organization.
Over the course of summer 2016, AAAS will launch:
- AAAS MemberCentral My Profile: The self-service online portal allows members to update and manage their AAAS account themselves; resetting a password, updating contact and address information, joining or changing a section, and more. The process is quick, easy, and intuitive.
- Access to the AAAS MemberCentral Community on Trellis: The exclusive AAAS member group on Trellis, the innovative new communication platform for the scientific community – built and operated by AAAS, gives members a simple, additional way to connect and collaborate.
- An Easier Online Login Process: Members will be able to use the same username (their email address) and password to access Sciencemag.org, MemberCentral, My Profile, and eventually the AAAS MemberCentral Community on Trellis, providing a more seamless online experience. Members will be asked to use their email as their new login and update their password.
Correspondingly, the MemberCentral website is being totally rebuilt and revamped, with an updated look, style, and navigation. The new MemberCentral will provide easy access to MyProfile and the MemberCentral Community on Trellis as well as to additional member content, including the on-demand, certificate-level courses in the new Career Development Center.
In addition to these online initiatives, AAAS has rebranded the Member Services department as MemberCentral Support. Along with this name come improved internal systems and a renewed commitment from a transformed team based in our Washington, D.C. headquarters to offering the best in service to AAAS members and customers via telephone and email.
“MemberCentral delivers on our commitment to our members. This work represents one of many initiatives underway to engage our members and ensure we exceed our members’ expectations,” said Beth Bush, Chief Membership Officer.
To ensure that members are updated and prepared for these improvements, AAAS will be using email as the primary method of communication. It is important for current members who have not yet provided AAAS with a valid email address to contact MemberCentral Support at membership@aaas.org or by phone at 202-326-6417 or 1-866-434-2227, weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. ET.
