NIH Announces New Funding Opportunities

In support of President Obama's Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will make awards focusing on developing tools and technologies for advancing understanding of brain circuitry. There are six areas identified as priorities, and applications for all six are due sometime in March.

A second new funding opporutnity is the “Enhancing the Diversity of the NIH Funded Workforce” program. The program is intended to “help transform the biomedical research workforce pipeline through institution-wide, and eventually nationwide, implementation of successful training and mentoring strategies,” and among its components is the creation of a “National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN) that will be a nationwide network of mentors and mentees spanning all disciplines relevant to the NIH mission.”
