From 5-7 December in the conference rooms at the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science in Kuwait City, RCP led a workshop for 52 researchers and graduate students. The hands-on workshop covered all aspects of proposal development for peer-reviewed grant competitions, including identifying international funding opportunities, fitting the proposal to the priorities in the program announcement, and avoiding common errors in proposal writing. The workshop, sponsored by KFAS, also addressed the wide range of funding opportunities that KFAS provides for the research community in Kuwait (kfas.org). The workshop used RCP’s competency-based curriculum, creating an active learning environment informed by RCP's work providing peer-review for more than 1,000 proposals a year. Later in 2017 we will measure the impacts of the workshop by comparing baseline pre-workshop participant surveys with survey responses within the year after the workshop. Check back at the end of 2017 for the results!
