Robert Sussman, AAAS Section H (Anthropology) retiring chair, dies at 74

Professor of anthropology in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, Robert Sussman passed away on June 8 as a consequence of a stroke. He was 74. Sussman was a leading scholar on the evolution of human and primate behavior. He was named a Fellow of AAAS in 2000 and at the time of his death was the retiring chair of Section H (Anthropology).

“Bob was a remarkable scholar, phenomenal teacher and mentor, and dedicated servant to the university and to the academic community,” said T.R. Kidder, professor and chair of anthropology in Arts & Sciences.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, June 12, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Hotchkiss Chapel at Bellfontaine Cemetery (4947 W Florissant Ave, St. Louis, MO 63115—see this link). The funeral procession to the gravesite will meet at Wildwood Valley in Bellfontaine Cemetery at 2 PM on Monday, June 13.
