Dr. Ferreira received her PhD from Baylor University in Exercise, Nutrition, & Preventive Health. She is also a Mayo Clinic trained dietician. Her postdoctoral work, conducted at the University of Kansas and Haskell Indian Nations University through the NIH IRACDA fellowship, allowed her to elaborate upon her interest in health. Traditional & Complementary Medicine is the focus of her work toward disease prevention and athletic performance enhancement. Her research includes: (1) cross-sectional survey work of student use of botanicals; (2) quasi-experimental pedagogical experiments; (3) exercise and nutrition intervention experiments; and (4) writing enthusiastically about bioactive organisms from the Americas, including Greenland.
