Rebecca Aicher is a community engagement strategist and lead trainer for CSCCE. She works to support scientific collaborations to exchange information, build networks to solve challenging problems, and facilitate collaborations based on a strong sense of community.
Rebecca is an ecologist by training, and completed her Ph.D. in biology at the University of California Irvine. Rebecca is interested in solving challenging problems that include from environmental issues, science policy, and STEM education. Before joining AAAS in 2016, Rebecca worked on invasive species research and policy, climate change policy, and Clean Water Act issues. She was a AAAS Science and Technology Policy fellow from 2011-2013 with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and worked on understanding the potential impacts of mining in Bristol Bay, Alaska. Rebecca has been fortunate to work as a scientist and educator throughout the world including the Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica, Alaska, California, Colorado, New Mexico, New York, and now Washington, D.C.
