The Science Inside series is AAAS' premiere education tool to improve public understanding of science. The award-winning series develops and broadly shares plain language electronic and print materials focusing on scientific concepts that are important to the general public. Our goal is to give people a science-based understanding of critical developmental and health issues, so they can make better-informed, and healthier choices, about how they live and work.

The Science Inside Alcohol — The Science Inside Alcohol Project, funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), is developing an interactive, Web-based science and health curriculum for middle school students and their families on how alcohol affects their bodies.

The Science Inside Health Issues — The Healthy People Library Project, a five year grant funded by the National Institutes of Health, developed seven books about health issues that are important to the general public including diabetes, high blood pressure, having health babies and biomedical research. Obesity: The Science Inside was named a 2007 Health Information Award winner by the Health Information Resource Center.  www.healthlit.org

This easy to understand and engaging text provides an introduction to how people learn, from infancy to old age. Drawing upon what we have learned from exciting new research on learning and the brain, the book places the study of learning in an everyday context that makes it appropriate for a wide range of audiences, especially informal and formal educators and parents.
