Born on the eastern shores of Hawai‘i, Cliff now lives a life filled with science research, independent filmmaking and professional surfing. Scheduled to obtain a PhD in chemistry from the University of California San Diego in 2018, his academic career is uniquely complemented with his athletic commitment to the sea. While contributing several peer-reviewed publications to the fields of molecular bioscience, he has also produced a handful award-winning films that discuss indigenous activism, ocean conservation, global food security and virtual reality. Fortunate to be featured in The New York Times, NBC, CBS, Surfer Magazine, Hawaii Business Magazine and more, he has also works with organizations such as The Polynesian Voyaging Society, The National Geographic, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii and The Biomimicry Institute to share the power of education.
