I am postdoctoral fellow in the University of Iowa College of Dentistry’s T90 Institutional Research Training Program in Oral Health Research. My research program aims to better understand the social, cultural, environmental, and political-economic factors that contribute to disparities in oral health, primarily among U.S. Latinxs.
I am particularly interested in exploring unconventional pathways to disseminate science to communities in a culturally relevant manner. In the past, I have worked with visual artists to disseminate my research findings through the arts. My passion to address the gender and racial inequities in the STEM fields led me to co-found Cientificas de Milwaukee which is the only bilingual and bicultural after-school STEM program in the Milwaukee area that is tailored for young Latinas in grades 2nd to 8th.
