Janaya Thompson is the Sr. Project Administrator in the Directorate for Education and Human Resources Programs. She has more than fifteen years of professional experience in educational nonprofits. At AAAS, she manages and oversees financial activities for the complex portfolio of departmental grants. Prior to joining AAAS in October 2014, she worked as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the DC College Access Program. She has also worked as an Assistant Director of Admissions at Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA.
Ms. Thompson holds dual Bachelor degrees from West Virginia University in Foreign Languages and Philosophy. In addition, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, a Master of Science in Management with a concentration in Nonprofit Management, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College. Ms. Thompson also completed the Effective Leadership Institute conducted by Leadership Greater Washington. She is deeply committed to organizations that enhance educational opportunities for underrepresented minorities.
