Josh Shiode joined the AAAS Office of Government Relations in March 2015 as a Senior Government Relations Officer.
Prior to joining AAAS, Josh was the fifth John N. Bahcall Public Policy Fellow of the American Astronomical Society (AAS). While with the AAS, Josh worked to improve communication between the astronomical science and policymaking communities, with a particular focus on increasing the participation of students and postdoctoral researchers in science policy.
Josh holds a Ph.D. in astrophysics from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. in astronomy and physics from Boston University. As a NASA Earth and Space Sciences Graduate Fellow at Berkeley, he explored the evolution and inner workings of massive stars and developed a passion for science communication and education, which he now brings to his work in science policy.
