Kat Song

Communications & Digital Strategy Director

Kat Song is communications and digital strategy director for the AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowships (STPF). She helps ensure that science informs public policy by communicating with the program's many constituencies across multiple channels, providing direction to its digital platforms and bolstering the STPF brand. She consults on strategic communications, oversees content on three websites, serves as editor of Fellows’ Monthly and Fellowship Focus, and is the voice behind STPF social media platforms. 

With more than 20 years in the business, Kat is a veteran communicator with deep background in various industries and issues including healthcare policy, automotive, and high tech. She also has years of service in public relations agencies Ogilvy Worldwide and Fenton Communications. With an abiding interest in all things evidence-based, she is passionate about the health of populations and the environment. She has served on the AAAS Green Team to help improve the organization's sustainability efforts as well as the the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.

Kat earned a degree in government and a master's degree in public policy from Georgetown University, and has been a proud resident of the nation’s capital ever since. She was an elected member of the advisory body of a DC public school, and has served on the board of directors of numerous nonprofit organizations in Washington. She lives in the city along with her husband, kids and an excitable rescue dog.
