Kathryn McGrath is the communications director of the AAAS Center for Scientific Evidence in Public Issues (AAAS EPI Center). She has long engaged the public on scientific issues with a focus on advocacy and behavior change. Since working for the world’s first instant messenger, ICQ, Kathryn has spent more than 15 years helping non-profit organizations engage and inspire people online.
Prior to joining AAAS, Kathryn was the communications director at the Sabin Vaccine Institute where she oversaw media relations, publications, marketing and digital efforts for multiple brands and campaigns. At the Natural Resources Defense Council, Kathryn developed advocacy campaigns and digital content and led social media for eight years. She graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in English.
