Olivia Monahan

Project Director

Olivia manages the day-to-day operations and administration of the fellowship program and supervises five staff. She oversees partnerships and interactions with federal agencies, congressional offices, scientific and engineering societies, and other partners; as well as the application, selection and placement processes. She assists the director with formulating policies and new initiatives and collaborations, and serves as a senior ambassador for the program.

Olivia holds an M.A. in Communication, Culture & Technology from Georgetown University and a B.A. in Philosophy from University of Maryland. She joined the STPF staff in 2016 with over six years of experience in higher education management with a focus on international affairs and development. Most recently, she directed faculty and graduate affairs in the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, one of the world's leading academic and research institutions in global affairs. Previously she managed the English Language Fellows program of the Center for Intercultural Education and Development, a U.S. Department of State diplomacy program.
 
Throughout her career, Olivia has worked to prepare scholars to lead, serve and change the world, focusing on creating intercultural understanding and advocacy through education. Olivia has a passion for promoting the power of science and technology as a core foundation for domestic and international development. In her spare time Olivia enjoys elaborate cooking experiments, gardening, making textile-based art objects, and reading good books.
