Dr. Rebecca Aicher is a project director at the AAAS Center for Scientific Evidence in Public Issues (AAAS EPI Center). Dr. Aicher leads the environment and energy topic areas for the EPI Center including work on PFAS, green infrastructure, and properly addressing orphaned and abandoned oil and gas wells. Before joining the EPI Center, she worked with the AAAS Community Engagement Fellows Program to support scientific collaborations and community building in science. Prior to AAAS, she worked on policy-relevant scientific research including invasive species management, ecosystem restoration, climate change, and sustainable water resource management at the Northeast Midwest Institute, US Global Change Research Program and EPA, among others.

Dr. Aicher was an AAAS Science and Technology Policy fellow from 2011 to 2013 with the U.S. EPA. During her fellowship, she worked on understanding the potential impacts of mining in Bristol Bay, Alaska. She received her Ph.D. in biology at the University of California Irvine and bachelor’s degree in biology from the George Washington University.
