Kat Song is communications and digital strategy director for the Science & Technology Policy Fellowships (STPF), helping ensure that science informs public policy by communicating with the program's various constituencies, providing strategic direction to its digital platforms, and supporting its brand. She assists the STPF director with communications strategy, oversees content for three websites, serves as editor of Fellows’ Monthly and Fellowship Focus, and is the voice behind STPF social media platforms.
With more than 20 years in the business, Kat is a veteran communicator with background in multiple industries and issues, deep expertise in health care policy, and years of PR agency service including Ogilvy PR Worldwide and Fenton Communications. She has an abiding interest in all things evidence-based and is passionate about the environment. In the past, she served on the AAAS Green Team -- a group convened to identify and implement solutions to help AAAS operate in an environmentally sustainable fashion.
After graduating from Georgetown University with a bachelor’s degree in government and a master's degree in public policy, Kat has become a loyal resident of the nation’s capital. She was an elected member of the advisory body of a DC public school, and has served on the board of directors of numerous nonprofit organizations in Washington DC. She lives in the city along with her husband, kids and fun-loving rescue dog.
