Stephanie Byng is responsible for the development and management of technological solutions that support the business processes of the AAAS S&T Policy Fellowships (STPF) program. Stephanie works on projects that are a mix of new development, replacement, and enhancements. She researches, develops, plans, and supervises design, production, and technology for the STPF online application, selection and placement systems, websites, networking systems and databases. Stephanie as a member of the AAAS IT management team, and oversees STPF external technical vendors. She manages STPF cross-function data team, and conducts analysis and quality control of data and systems functionality. Finally, Stephanie provides professional technical support and training for staff, applicants, fellows, and other stakeholders; and troubleshoots technical issues and maintains systems documentation.
Stephanie joined AAAS in 2012, fresh from a 12-month term of service with AmeriCorps VISTA, where she was the IT Administrator for The Advancement Foundation. She worked with multiple nonprofit clients building custom websites/graphics, managing social media profiles, developing documentation and training materials, overseeing donor database integration into Salesforce, and evaluating new technology for integration. Previously, Stephanie spent seven years as a web/graphics designer, specializing in nonprofits and women-owned businesses.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Northern Arizona University. In 2009, Stephanie wrote and published An Eco-Babe’s Guide to Greening It. In her spare time she volunteers for FIRST Robotics and builds model trains.
