2020 Workshop Dates
Sunday, March 29 - Wednesday, April 1, 2020.
The CASE Workshop program is open to universities and professional scientific or engineering societies that would like to provide an opportunity for their students to come to Washington, DC, and learn about science policy. Students who are selected by their institution to participate in the workshop will spend several days learning about the structure and organization of Congress, the federal budget and appropriations process, and tools for effective science communication and civic engagement.
Sponsoring institutions may send up to four students and are responsible for a $250 registration fee per student, as well as all associated travel and lodging costs for their students. In addition, staff at sponsoring universities and professional societies are responsible for scheduling visits to Capitol Hill, and are welcome to accompany participating students during those visits.
Students being sponsored by their university or society should NOT complete the AAAS student application.
Please consider the following when selecting your participating students: To be eligible to participate in the Catalyzing Advocacy in Science and Engineering Workshop, students must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate (preferably an upperclassmen) or graduate degree program (including double majors) in one of the following fields:
- Biological, physical, or earth sciences
- Computational sciences and mathematics
- Engineering disciplines
- Medical and health sciences
- Social and behavioral sciences
Students from foreign countries are eligible to attend if they are studying here in the U.S.
