Focus Group Engagement: Exploring the Impact of Religion on Recruitment and Retention of Racial and Ethnic Minorities in Research

This public engagement activity used a focus group approach to explore opportunities for research scientists at Howard University to partner with faith-based leaders in a Ghanaian Association in Maryland and a Muslim congregation in Virginia. This partnership examined the collective religious views and experiences of the members regarding recruitment and retention of racial and ethnic minorities in clinical trials. The discussions provided depth and insights to how Christianity and Islamic religions impact decisions to participate in research.
