Allessandra DiCorato

I'm a PhD candidate at Northwestern University, where I study how nanomaterials interact with soft biological tissue in contexts ranging from sea urchins to cancer cells. I spend most days using enormous microscopes to visualize tiny phenomena, and am excited by the ways in which both science and good writing afford us the opportunity to gain a new perspective on processes we can't always see. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing, exploring new neighborhoods in Chicago, and baking birthday cakes. I am absolutely thrilled to be spending this summer at KQED as a AAAS Mass Media Fellow!
