I am a Venezuelan Ph.D. candidate at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital/University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, TN. My work focuses on understanding the role of metabolic pathways in T cell development and function. I am very passionate about bridging the gap between scientists and the general public. I am a past-President of the UTHSC's Graduate Student Executive Council; a host of the annual Taste of Science Memphis festival; and a contributing writer of various scientific and non-scientific publications, including the St. Jude Progress and the I Love Memphis blogs. In my spare time, you can find me running on behalf of the kids of St. Jude as a St. Jude Hero, reading about Venezuelan politics, or doing advocacy work. I'm super excited to be joining the Discover Magazine team this summer as an AAAS Mass Media Fellow.
