I'm currently a fourth year PhD student in electrical engineering at MIT. My research focuses on superconducting nanoscale devices for electronic circuits. Part of the privilege of my job is getting the chance to interact with dimensions (1000x smaller than the width of human hair) that most people never observe. For that reason, I've come to see communication about science as the most important aspect of my work. I recently started working as a student contributor to Physics World, and am minoring in science journalism as part of my degree. When I'm not conducting research or writing, I spend almost all of my time oil painting. I'm incredibly excited to be working with the Smithsonian Magazine team this summer!
