Luisa Torres

I am a postdoc at Cornell University where I am studying the effects of chronic infection with the parasite Toxoplasma gondii on the appearance of signs of Alzheimer's disease in mice. I am also interested in the effect of perfluorinated compounds on the mouse immune system.  In my spare time, I interview scientists in the Ithaca area for a bimonthly science show hosted by my local radio station called Locally Sourced Science. I also serve as Communications Officer for the Neuropharmacology division of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) and I am the editor of the ASPET Neuropharmacology blog. I am beyond excited to spend this summer at NPR writing science news in NPR's blogs "The Salt", "Goats and Soda", and "Shots".
