Rishi Sugla

Bio

Rishi is a PhD candidate at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography studying the effects of long-term changes in climate on the evolution of life. Outside of his academic life, research co-founded the Center for Interdisciplinary Environmental Justice in 2015 which uses science as a strategic tool to support communities resisting environmental and climate injustices. He is a science writer with Tomorrow Unlocked, and a science communicator and expedition team member in the upcoming documentary "From Kurils with Love." He has also helped produced the in-progress documentary "Salt and Sky" focusing on the impacts of green technology on indigenous communities in the Andean Altiplano. In his spare time, he is usually dancing bachata, cooking overly elaborate meals, or climbing with friends.
