Science & Technology Policy Fellowships

2004-06 Diplomacy, Security, & Development (DSD) Fellow at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate

Serving as a visiting fellow at the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and the Responses to Terrorism (START) at the University of Maryland in College Park

“The AAAS Fellowships introduced me to the challenges and rewards involved in developing a social science research program aimed at addressing the needs of the homeland security community. It improved my ability to explain the importance of conducting scientifically valid research that can inform policy and operational decisions and made me more adept at negotiating a middle ground between theory and practice. The fellowship gave me the opportunity to work with and learn from a variety of talented people in academia, the private sector, and the federal government, and opened my eyes to career paths I previously hadn’t known existed. In the process, it gave me broader perspective on my field and my future.”
